This is undoubtedly the news at the start of the weekend in Alcañiz: Marc Marquez is back and is preparing to get back behind the wheel of his RC213V, 110 days after the last race at Mugello.

After the official tests at Misano and a few days to assess his recovery, Marquez made the decision to return to the track. “I’m very happy to come back,” he said. At Mugello, I didn't expect to be here in Aragon or even to ride this year. But things have gone well from the start, since the intervention. It seems that, step by step, I feel better. There is still a long way to go. The target I want to achieve is going to take a lot of work. The test in Misano was very positive. The physical condition I had at the end of the test was very good. We analyzed my recovery in the days that followed and said to ourselves that there was a possibility of being here. We spoke with the doctors, the team and everyone. We decided to come back, because the most important thing is to be on the bike, for me, but also to prepare for 2023. It is important to combine fitness and motorcycling well. Let's see what I can do. »

MotorLand Aragon is one of the Catalan's playgrounds since he has no less than 6 podiums there, including 5 victories, in eight starts. He also qualified on pole position 5 times. “About the probability of a podium, it’s 1%… very low. I am very far from my best physical condition. The bone is healed, that's the most important thing. But muscles are still very far from what I want. Honda is in bad shape, we are far from other manufacturers. My goal is to complete every weekend from now on. With three events in a row, there is a possibility that I will have to stop, in Japan or Thailand, we do not know (…) Next winter, it will be a question of knowing where we are the level or the top level with my right arm. »

For his part, Bagnaia, on a series of four victories in a row, is convinced that Marquez will be a formidable opponent in the very short term. “He will try to win,” he confided to Dazn’s microphone. He might be more relaxed, but I think in this race he will be Top 8, in the next one Top 6 and in the next one he will be there. »

Honda: towards a new philosophy?

Honda has only one podium this year and the Japanese factory is very far from the level displayed in 2019, thanks to Marquez. But the Spaniard is certain that Honda is doing everything possible to achieve this. “Honda is Honda and I’m not the guy to organize a company,” he says. Sometimes it is true that we share our comments and we try to give some ideas. In Misano we tested a Kalex arm. If we evaluated it in Misano, they didn't start talking about it in Austria, but long before. They work hard, they understand the situation, that we are far from the Ducatis and the Aprilias. They are involved in the project and next year I will also have a fast teammate. We need the tools to fight for the championship.
