Marc Márquez's 2024 season has truly seen the multiple world champion reborn. MotoGP, after difficult years at Honda. The Spaniard was able to return to the joys of the podium on a regular basis, as he took his first victory in 1043 days at the Aragon Grand Prix.
To show that he had lost none of his talent, the number 93 signed two more. The first, the following week, in Misano (San Marino). The second, a few weeks later, at the end of a tough duel against Jorge Martín in Australia, on the Phillip Island circuit.
The machine is therefore relaunched, and his promotion to the Ducati factory team will more than certainly allow him to inflate his statistics a little more. From next season, Marc Márquez will have what should be the best bike on the grid. Enough to suggest that he could equal the record of some of the legends of the discipline.
At the Gran Premio de la Solidaridad in Barcelona, Marc Márquez finished second, just behind Pecco Bagnaia. A result that allowed him to secure his 150th podium in a Grand Prix. A figure previously achieved by four other riders in the history of the discipline.
Pedrosa, Agostini and others…
As a result, Márquez will start the 2025 season in fifth place in the ranking of the riders with the most podiums. Two lengths behind Jorge Lorenzo, and three behind Dani Pedrosa. If he achieves nine podiums in the twenty-two rounds scheduled for next season, he will also equal Giacomo Agostini's record, to take second place in the table. Valentino Rossi and his 235 career podiums cannot be worried.
It was also his 111th podium in the premier class. One less than Dani Pedrosa, third on the list when only those are counted.
The 2024 Australian Grand Prix saw Marc Márquez claim his 88th career victory. That puts him two points behind his most decorated compatriot, Angel Nieto (90). However, we will have to wait a little longer before we can hope to catch up with Valentino Rossi and Giacomo Agostini, who have 115 and 122 career victories respectively.
Finally, in the event of a world title, Márquez would equal Valentino Rossi's seven premier class crowns, as well as his nine world championship titles. Considering that the Doctor won one of his seven victories in 500cc, Márquez would become the most successful rider in the MotoGP era.
