Marquez takes advantage in the wet at Portimão

It was a soggy track that welcomed the drivers MotoGP this morning during the first free practice session of the Portuguese GP.

Despite his precarious conditions, it was Marc Marquez who was the fastest with a lap of 1'50.666. The Honda rider had a little more than three tenths ahead of the Suzuki of Joan Mir and four ahead of the first Ducati in the hierarchy, that of Marco Bezzecchi, who made a mistake at the end of the session.

Johann Zarco took the fourth time just under half a second from the benchmark, ahead of the stage local in the person of Miguel Oliveira, the overwhelming winner during the 2020 Portuguese GP.

Maverick Viñales placed his Aprilia RS-GP in sixth position while Jorge Martin, Francesco Bagnaia, winner here last year (at the Algarve GP), Jack Miller and Alex Marquez completed the Top 10.

These precarious conditions have clearly not favored the Yamaha clan, whose first representative is none other than fabio quartararo, ranked 18th more than 1.3 behind Marquez.

Also note the 14th place of Enea Bastianini, leader of the world championship, behind Remy Gardner and Luca Marini.
