Tension rises in the paddock of the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia as the final round of the 2023 championship MotoGP will be played this afternoon. A race which will decide between Francesco Bagnia and Jorge Martin who both still have chances of being titled.

Before the start, fourteen points separate them to the advantage of the Italian. The reigning world champion also has the advantage of starting position (2nd), while Martin will start from 6th position. A fact which, however, did not prevent the No. 89 from winning during the Sprint.

To be crowned this Sunday, the Pramac driver must above all appear on the podium, because a fourth place (13 points) will not be enough to catch up. If he appears in the top 3, he will have to hope for a bad result from Bagnaia and will be crowned if:

  • He wins and Bagnaia finishes outside the top 5.
  • He finishes second and Bagnaia ranks eleventh or worse.
  • He finished third and Bagnaia scored the maximum point of fifteenth place.

On the other hand, the title seems more accessible, since a top 5 for Bagnaia would bring him the crown regardless of Martin's result.

In the event that the reigning world champion does not succeed, three scenarios would still offer him his second championship in the premier category:

  • He finished between 6th and 10th positions, and Martin did not win.
  • He finished between 11th and 14th positions and Martin did not do better than 3rd.
  • He finished 15th, and Martin failed to reach the podium.
