Martin last poleman of the year, Quartararo will start 4th

Jorge Martin is indeed the king of pole position at the end of the 2022 season. After Phillip Island and Sepang in October, the Spaniard won his third qualification in a row in Valencia, he who is still chasing victory this season. It will perhaps be for Sunday, if he manages to dominate the 23 other drivers on the grid. Notably Marc Marquez and Jack Miller, who will accompany him on the front line.

fabio quartararo would have liked to be there, but the Frenchman will finally open the second row after finishing fourth. A result which suggests an eventful race: he promised to fight like hell to try to win, which constitutes his only chance of being crowned world champion. He indeed needs to win, as well as a misstep from Francesco Bagnaia (that he does not do better than 15th), to retain his title.

Francesco Bagnaia, in fact, had a difficult Saturday, like his weekend. The Ducati rider admitted to being under pressure and could not do better than eighth, an unusual result for the winner of the BMW M Award, the name given to the qualifying championship. On his right on the grid he will have the second Frenchman in the peloton, Johann Zarco, ninth after falling in his second run.

The final test session of the 2022 season, the warm-up, scheduled for 9:40 a.m. this Sunday, will offer drivers one last opportunity to fine-tune the prototypes. The start of the race will be at 14 p.m.

Q2 ranking (+ rest of the grid):

13. Enea Bastianini (Ducati)
14. Miguel Oliveira (KTM)
15. Alex Marquez (Honda)
16. Franco Morbidelli (Yamaha)
17. Cal Crutchlow (Yamaha)
18. Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati)
19. Fabio di Giannantonio (Ducati)
20. Remy Gardner (KTM)
21. Pol Espargaro (Honda)
22. Raul Fernandez (KTM)
23. Darryn Binder (Yamaha)
24. Takaaki Nakagami (Honda) – due to a penalty
