Martin takes first pole position of the year at Lusail

All in all, it was Jorge Martin who came to beat everyone to the post on the Lusail circuit. Just like last year during the Doha GP, the Pramac driver took pole, with a time of 1'53.011.

He will start in front of Enea Bastianini who, like Martin, deprives Marc Marquez of his first pole position since the 2019 Japanese GP. The Catalan must be content with third place on the grid, but it is still his seventh first line in a row at Lusail and in his previous six, he has finished on the podium four times, including a victory in 2014…

Fourth, Jack Miller hoists a third Ducati among the first four of Q2. On the second row, the Australian will be accompanied by Aleix Espargaro and his brother Pol. After going through the repechage, Brad Binder finally inherited seventh place ahead of Joan Mir, the first Suzuki representative.

Small blow for Francesco Bagnaia who misses the front row for the first time since the Sachsenring last year. Author of pole position here in 2021, this time he will be ninth on the grid ahead of Alex Rins and fabio quartararo who also had to go through Q1.

First Yamaha rider, the world champion, who lacked a soft tire to chase the time, could not do better than 11e. Note that this is the first time that there is no Yamaha in the Top 10 on the grid since Aragon in 2018…
