Martin wins in Styria

It was only a matter of time before Jorge Martin's first success in MotoGP…it is now done. After taking pole position on Saturday, the Madrilenian managed the race masterfully to claim victory on Ducati's playground.

However, the race was stopped after three laps with a red flag due to an accident at the third turn. Dani Pedrosa crashed and Lorenzo Savadori, who was a little further behind, was unable to avoid the collision with the Spaniard's KTM RC16. After cleaning the track, a new start was given for a race shortened to 27 laps.

It was first Jack Miller who led the debates before losing to Martin then making a mistake while trying to come back fabio quartararo in the last laps. Martin then held off Joan Mir to the finish to win, becoming the first independent Ducati rider to triumph in the premier Grand Prix category. He is also the first debutant to win since Brad Binder last year in Brno.

On the third step, Quartararo saved precious points in the championship as he finished ahead of his compatriot and closest rival in the title race Johann Zarco who had to settle for sixth position.

It was Brad Binder who failed at the foot of the podium in front of the Honda of Takaaki Nakagami. Alex Rins took seventh place ahead of the Marquez brothers, Marc and Alex. Pedrosa, who was able to line up at the second start, completes the Top 10.
