Since the Catalan GP, Maverick Viñales has not minced his words regarding Yamaha. Alongside a teammate who already has four times as many victories since the opening of the season, the Catalan struggles to hide his annoyance, emphasizing that he cannot fully express himself on his YZR-M1.

But on Saturday, everything accelerated with a tweet from Ricard Jové, commentator for DAZN, the channel which broadcasts the MotoGP in Spain, announcing the termination of the contract between Viñales and Yamaha. “He’s totally wrong., declared the main interested party after the race. What more can be said ? One thing is clear: here, I cannot express myself to my fullest. I have to follow my trajectory and sometimes it's difficult. I have to find something that allows me to give my best in every lap, in every race and on every circuit. » And to insist on the subject of these rumors: “They're not true, that's for sure. »

It would not be the first time that Viñales decided to terminate his contract. In 2012, he parted ways with his Moto3 team while fighting for the title and had just signed for two more years (in Moto3 then in Moto2). And who was the team manager of this team? A certain Ricard Jové…

“Today Fabio was very fast”

Questioned again about these paddock noises, Viñales repeated: “The only thing I would like to do is give my best. At the moment this is not possible, we are having a lot of problems which I keep to myself, because I don't want to make excuses. Today Fabio was very fast. That's the thing I can say. »

“When I arrive at the circuits, I start to feel that it is going to be a nightmare, he also replied. For almost three years, I have had the same comments. Like I said, I want to give it my all and I want to go to the races to actually race. At the moment it's difficult. When I arrive, I say to myself “pfff, what problems I’m going to have”. »

Johann Zarco experienced a more or less similar situation when he terminated his contract with KTM during 2019. “Zarco did it, but I don’t want to follow the others, underlined Viñales. I will follow my feeling… At the Sachsenring, I wanted to go home on Friday, because it was a desperate weekend. I explained it, we have not progressed. Here (in Assen, editor’s note), I had grip, the circuit is good and more or less adapts to the bike and I was able to ride fast. But I am far from my potential. »

For his part, regarding the Viñales/Yamaha case, Johann Zarco sets the record straight. “When I left KTM, I wasn’t doing pole positions or podiumshe says. He doesn't realize how lucky he is..."
