In 2024, Maverick Viñales was the only one to deny Ducati a Sunday victory. At the Grand Prix of the Americas, the third round of the season held at the Austin circuit, the Spaniard outperformed the eight Desmosedici GPs on the grid to win under the Aprilia banner.
Starting from pole position, the road to victory was not easy. A poor start saw him drop to ninth, and forced to show authority in his climb back to the front.
This success was his first for the Noale brand. A result that allowed him to become the first driver of the era MotoGP to win at least one race with three different manufacturers. He who had already won when he was a driver
In 2025, however, the Catalan will join yet another brand. Following his signing with Tech3 at the beginning of the summer, he will be partnered with Enea Bastianini in the KTM satellite team. He could therefore take advantage of this to extend his record, and win a race with a fourth different manufacturer.
A victory that would allow him to distance himself from some drivers on the grid who will have the opportunity to equal his current mark next year.
Who can match Maverick Viñales?
On the 2025 grid of MotoGP, two other riders can match Maverick Viñales. Jack Miller (Pramac Yamaha) and Alex Rins (Yamaha) have already won with two brands in the premier class, but not yet with the Iwata factory.
As a reminder, the Australian won the Dutch Grand Prix for Honda in 2016, before winning three times with Ducati. However, he failed during his time at KTM.
The Spaniard, for his part, has won five times with Suzuki in MotoGP, including the manufacturer's last before its withdrawal from the class in 2022. He then moved to Honda, where he also took the factory's last victory to date, at the 2023 Grand Prix of the Americas.
