Miguel Oliveira expected to return to the track at the French Grand Prix

This is good news for the Yamaha clan. After missing three weekends, Miguel Oliveira will make his comeback at the French Grand Prix. The Portuguese rider dislocated the sternoclavicular ligament in his left shoulder in a crash during the sprint race of the Argentine Grand Prix.

Oliveira missed the main race the following day, and then the following three weekends in Texas, Qatar and Jerez (Spain). The former Trackhouse Aprilia rider has had a difficult start to his adventure with Pramac, Yamaha's satellite team, with whom he has scored only two points in three races, sprint and Grand Prix combined.

His 14th place in Thailand remains his only Grand Prix result so far. Starting at the GP of the Americas, Oliveira was replaced by Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez. The Spaniard, who rode for Tech3 GasGas last season with Pedro Acosta, added three points to Pramac's tally by finishing 13th at COTA.

Pramac is having a difficult start to the season, notably due to the absence of one of its two regular drivers. The other, Jack Miller, has been performing inconsistently. Similar to his stints with Ducati and KTM, the Australian is capable of blowing hot and cold: 5th in the Grand Prix of the Americas, but having fallen in the last three races, he has scored 19 points, which doesn't prevent Pramac from occupying last place in the team standings (24 points).

A real comeback for a team that was runner-up to the world champion last year, behind Ducati. Gino Borsoi's team also had the Borgo Panigale machines at its disposal, with which Jorge Martin became the first rider to win the title with a satellite team. By joining Yamaha, Pramac agreed to a short-term performance loss, but the Italian outfit benefits from a very close relationship with Yamaha, which treats it as an equal—a positive for the future.

Japanese motorcycles have been enjoying a bit of a resurgence in recent weeks under the leadership of fabio quartararo, author of a sensational pole position at Jerez. Miguel Oliveira returns at the right time to take advantage of it, at Le Mans, on the occasion of the sixth round of the season.
