Le MotoGP recently unveiled the provisional list of drivers who will take part in the 2025 season, along with the numbers that will be associated with them. Unlike last season, there will be a bunch of new flocking to remember at the start of the season, which is partly due to the arrival of three rookies.
Since their numbers are not yet assigned in MotoGP, they will keep the ones they used in Moto2. Namely, the number 35 for Somkiat Chantra, the number 54 for Fermín Aldeguer, and the number 79 for Ai Ogura.
For his part, Pecco Bagnaia did not repeat his success, and therefore loses the privilege of being able to display the number 1 on his fairing. He will therefore take back the number 63, which he used until 2022, before becoming MotoGP world champion.
Pedro Acosta will also change the sticker on the front of his KTM. Deprived of his lucky number for his debut in the premier categories, the departure of his garage neighbor, Augusto Fernández, will allow him to once again display the number 37. Distinctive sign with which he was crowned Moto2 world champion in 2023. The number 31 is therefore available again.
On this list, Jorge Martin's name is still associated with the number 89. The Spaniard could however change his mind during the winter, to carry out the pre-season tests at Sepang, equipped with the number 1. He would therefore take it to Aprilia.
Changes in MotoGP team names
The team names will also change somewhat. The following table lists the official names of the eleven teams for 2025. The first big change is on the Pramac side. The satellite team that won in 2023 has now parted ways with Ducati. Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller will compete under the banner of 'Prima Pramac Yamaha'.
On the Honda factory team side, the historic departure of title sponsor Repsol leaves room for the 'Honda HRC'.
