The 2025 Grand Prix of the Americas MotoGP will certainly remain one of the highlights of the championship. Marked by Marc Marquez's crash, the race resulted in the first change of leader of the year in the riders' standings. Alex Marquez thus took over from his brother, and took the lead in the MotoGP championship for the first time.

The Gresini Ducati rider finished second in the main race, benefiting from a crash by his brother, but his unfailing consistency since the start of the season has allowed him to climb to the top of the general classification with 87 points, one point ahead of his elder.

It wasn't all smooth sailing, and the race at the Circuit of the Americas was punctuated by unpredictable weather conditions, delaying the start twice. This added to the stress for the drivers.

“The race was difficult, especially at the start where there was a great lack of understanding, confides Alex Marquez in the closed park on arrival. However, the team did an incredible job. Now we're leading the championship, which is something really great."

Another opponent in Qatar for the Marquez family

Alex Marquez has now finished second in every race this season. Three times in sprints and three times in the main event. A frustrating situation, but one that's now paying off.

"We may be Mr. Second, but you know that Mr. Second pays too, continues Alex Marquez. I'm super happy. Thanks to everyone who's here. We're in this situation now and we have to keep moving forward."

With Marc Marquez in the hunt, behind his brother and Francesco Bagnaia, the excitement for the 2025 MotoGP championship is growing. Alex Marquez will now have to continue showing the same consistency to defend his position against the competition.

The next meeting in Qatar will be crucial, as it will welcome the return of another tough opponent, in the person of Jorge Martín.
