Alex Marquez arrives in Qatar at the top of the Drivers' standings MotoGP for the first time in his career. The Gresini Racing driver, who impressed with his consistency in the first three rounds of the season, is approaching this weekend with the same approach, without worrying about his new status.
However, he admits that his confidence and motivation are higher than ever, which encourages him to stay focused and work hard to maintain this pace.
“It will be a weekend like any other, confides Alex Marquez at a press conference this Thursday. We will have to try to be relaxed because it is the others who have to make up points. I see this as a kind of gift for me and my team. We have to continue like this, we are in great shape, we have to stay where we are now, not make any mistakes and think about closing all the races."
Alex Marquez considers Losail a circuit that favors his riding style. He has already achieved solid results here in the past, including top-6 finishes in the 2023 and 2024 editions. This view is shared by his brother, Marc Marquez, who does not consider himself the favorite in Doha.
"It's a track that suits me, He continues. I have experience on this track, but I know that doesn't mean everything. You have to stay focused, take it one step at a time, experience it like any other weekend, starting well from FP1, to get as many points as possible."
In conclusion, the Spaniard tries to realize the improbable nature of the position he occupies in the championship, just ahead of his older brother and multiple world champion.
“It’s real, but it also feels like a dream, to be here with Marc. The situation depends on his mistake in Austin, and we all know he was faster in the other races. He made the difference, for better or for worse. But my team and I must exploit our full potential to maintain the same performance, here and in the races to come.”
