  • Even before the start of the GP of the Americas MotoGPIn Austin, the situation in the pit lane was chaotic. Some drivers decided to start on wet tires, but quickly regretted their decision. They then began running back to their pit boxes to change machines. Race control put an end to the confusion by waving a red flag, to minimize their risks.
  • All the drivers will return to the track about ten minutes later, all equipped with slick tires. A dry line is emerging on the track, but overtaking promises to be complicated if they have to deviate from it.
  • After two formation laps, the riders took their positions on the grid. A final incident delayed the start, as Maverick Viñales's machine had to be removed from the track.
  • As the lights went out, Marc Marquez got off to the best start and was untroubled by his rivals. This was also the case for Pecco Bagnaia, who crossed Turn 1 in third place after a daring braking move. He then chased Alex Marquez and lost a significant amount of time behind him, allowing the race leader to pull away.
  • The situation changed little at the start of the race, and Bagnaia remained patient behind Alex Marquez. He attempted an attack at the end of the straight at the start of the fourth lap, eventually snatching second place from the Spaniard.
  • At the halfway point, Marc Marquez extended his lead to two seconds over Pecco Bagnaia, who was only a few tenths ahead of Alex Marquez. At the same time, Pedro Acosta crashed out and lost his hopes of a big points finish after qualifying in fourth place.

Marc Marquez's fatal mistake

  • Aiming for a sixth consecutive MotoGP victory, Marc Marquez made a slight mistake in the S-section of sector 1 at the start of lap 9. The Spaniard hit the inside kerb and crashed. The consequences were serious, as he handed the lead to his direct rival, Pecco Bagnaia. The Spaniard was able to restart, but his machine was badly damaged. The rear brake was missing, and part of his fairing had also come loose. His chances of scoring a point therefore seemed slim. Starting 17th, he continued to lose positions, but fought hard to finish the race. He finally retired on lap 13.
  • For his part, Pecco Bagnaia is in the lead, extending his lead to more than two seconds over Alex Marquez. Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli are riding solo in 3rd and 4th positions.
  • Pecco Bagnaia held on to his lead and easily finished in first place, securing his first victory of 2025. Alex Marquez held off the returning Fabio Di Giannantonio and held onto his second position. The younger of the Marquez brothers thus took the championship lead!
  • Starting sixteenth, Johann Zarco had an excellent start to the race, and moved up to tenth place in the first laps. He then took advantage of a few racing incidents and an excellent pace on a track with changing conditions to move up to sixth position. As he was catching Jack Miller, he was slowed down by an intense battle with Fermín Aldeguer's Ducati Gresini. With two laps to go, however, he ruined all this work by crashing in sector 3. Fermín Aldeguer followed him a few moments later, which freed up two places in the top 10.
  • However, fabio quartararo had a difficult start to the race and fell down the rankings. The Frenchman took advantage of a few racing incidents to find himself back in the top 10. He finished the MotoGP Americas GP in tenth place.
