Despite Marc Marquez's outrageous dominance since the start of the 2025 season, MotoGPThe Grand Prix of the Americas promises to be a potentially more competitive race than previous ones. The Spaniard, the championship leader, arrives in Austin with a perfect record: four wins in four races (two Grands Prix and two sprints).
However, his brother Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing) is also enjoying his best start to the season. He has led more laps than Marc in the main races. The younger of the Marquez brothers has, however, finished on the second step of the podium four times.
The undisputed king of the Texas circuit, Marc Marquez once again starts as the favorite heading into the weekend. He won every race there from 2013 to 2018, as well as in 2021. Despite a crash at the front of the field in the 2024 edition, he was also poised to make a comeback in Austin last year.
Beating Marc Marquez will therefore be a challenge on this very physical circuit, famous for its series of technical corners. But the Spaniard may have to be wary of many other drivers this time around, which hasn't been the case so far in 2025. The multiple world champion has always managed to dominate his younger brother to win.
His teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, will obviously be there. The Italian has already shown some great things in Texas, taking pole position and a sprint victory in 2023. However, drivers from other brands could also cause a surprise.
Maverick Viñales, now at Red Bull KTM Tech 3, won the main race and the Sprint last year with Aprilia. He dominated unchallenged. After a difficult start to the season, he could return to the forefront with KTM.
His performance last year may nevertheless encourage Marco Bezzecchi. The Italian is now a rider for the brand that will attempt to defend its title in Austin. Last year, the Grand Prix of the Americas also saw Pedro Acosta's first premier-class podium finish. The former rookie shone during his second weekend in MotoGP.
In the midfield, Alex Rins, who won in 2019 and 2023, should not be forgotten. Johann Zarco also arrives in great form after securing an excellent sixth place at the MotoGP Argentina GP.
