  • After suffering the disappointment of his fall in the Sprint, fabio quartararo has a second chance to defend his pole position at the Jerez circuit, and the Frenchman succeeds with an excellent start. After taking the lead through the first corner, the number 20 quickly finds himself under pressure from Pecco Bagnaia.
  • The latter, however, was attacked by Marc Marquez, who was eager to regain his second place. The two official Ducati riders then engaged in a heated duel, during which they did not fail to touch. Behind them, Alex Marquez was just as aggressive, and also tried to stand out by launching a few attacks.
  • This uproar is good news for Fabio Quartararo, who has a six-tenths lead over his pursuers at the start of the third lap of the race.
  • During this intense start to the race, the first major incident soon occurred. While trying to put pressure on his teammate, Marc Marquez lost control of his machine and ended his race in the gravel trap. The Spaniard was able to restart at the back of the pack, but his machine sustained damage.

  • Bagnaia isn't out of the woods yet. While he's gotten rid of one of the two Marquezes, the younger brother takes over. Alex puts pressure on the #63, passing him at the start of Turn 5. The Gresini rider then closes in on Fabio Quartararo, enjoying greater success than the two factory Ducati riders.

Alex Marquez on the road to first success

  • As he prepared to attack the Frenchman on lap six, his teammate crashed. The incident gave Pecco Bagnaia a bit of a break as he began to lose ground to the leading duo.
  • Alex Marquez is patient. It's only just before the halfway point that he takes a chance on the 2021 world champion to take the lead. The Spaniard quickly pulls away from his opponent and can then begin to dream of a first career MotoGP victory.
  • With eight laps to go, the Spaniard has a two-second lead over Fabio Quartararo, who himself has a six-tenths advantage over Pecco Bagnaia. While the Frenchman manages to maintain the gap to the Italian, he will soon have to be wary of the return of a certain Maverick Viñales.

  • The gaps at the front stabilized toward the end of the race, and the intensity dropped a notch. Alex Marquez managed a lead of nearly three seconds in the final three laps, securing his first premier-class victory, after winning two sprint races in the 2023 season.
  • Fabio Quartararo held off Pecco Bagnaia to claim his first podium finish since the 2023 Indonesian GP. The Frenchman hadn't finished second in a race since the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix. Pecco Bagnaia completed the top three and had a great run in the championship.

Marc Marquez saves the day

  • On the 15th of 25 laps to go, Joan Mir took an overly optimistic approach to Franco Morbidelli and crashed. The Spaniard, who was defending sixth place on his Honda, lost all the benefit of his strong start to the weekend. Another incident benefited Marc Marquez, who was finally getting into the pace of the leaders. The multiple world champion was promoted to sixteenth place after this incident, and found himself just outside the points. A feat on a badly damaged bike. He would soon break into the top 15, since on the next lap, it was Franco Morbidelli's turn to crash.
  • Marc Marquez then moved up the field and overcame Raul Fernandez and Aleix Espargaro. With four laps remaining, he found himself in thirteenth position, and could still hope to catch up with Alex Rins. The #93 placed his attack on his compatriot in the final corner of the race, saving the day after a chaotic start to the race. The consequences were significant in the championship, as Marc Marquez once again ceded the lead to his younger brother.
