Already leading on a wet track during Free Practice 1 of the Italian GP MotoGPFabio Di Giannantonio once again demonstrated his strong form on home soil at Mugello. The Italian, currently dominating at his home track, managed to set a personal best time of 1:44.808, 91 thousandths of a second ahead of Francesco Bagnaia in second place, and Enea Bastianini, who completed an all-Italian top three.

Besides the standings themselves, the session was notably marked by several off-track excursions and incidents. The first to bring out a red flag was none other than... fabio quartararoThe Yamaha rider, losing control of his bike, simply slid along the length of the kerb and appeared uninjured at the finish. Shortly after, Australian Jack Miller also crashed into the gravel, causing only a yellow flag, which was waved for just a few seconds. At the end of the session, KTM rider Brad Binder, instead of crashing, was forced to stop his bike next to the pit lane wall. This dangerous location forced race control to wave a second red flag, disrupting the momentum of several riders, particularly those at Ducati.

Baganaia and Márquez stand out

Although the results of this practice session aren't a direct reflection of what's expected in Saturday's qualifying session, the fact remains that the ten riders who qualified for Q2 include Honda's Diogo Moreira. Seventh and eighth-placed Arpilia riders Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin secured their spots, but still finished behind the ever-present Marc Márquez. The Spaniard, who was still in the hospital a few days ago and has only just returned to competition at Mugello this weekend, is just two-tenths of a second off the fastest time of the session. This valuable information will certainly add suspense for the fans during the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix qualifying session, which can be followed from 10:30 AM (French time) on autohebdo.fr.
