Günther Steiner close to arriving in MotoGP ? At the beginning of June, Hervé Poncharal, boss of the Tech3 team, confirmed in an interview made from the official MotoGP website in Aragon, that he was seriously studying different options to ensure the sustainability of his team.
In this interview, the historic French manager notably expressed the interest of several people including the former director of the team Haas en F1. "I have a lot of requests to answer, one of them, as you know, is Günther Steiner, whom I like to talk to. He's a very direct person and a very nice person to possibly work with. So, right now, I'm listening to the proposal.", confirmed the boss of Tech3.
"It could be coming in as a shareholder, as a partner. But it could also be buying the entire team. What I'm pushing for is to ensure the possibility of being alive in 2027-2031. With the Tech3 name, with my base, my team, and various investors. Just to make things safe.", Hervé Poncharal continued.
Günther Steiner had "a good conversation" with Poncharal
At the beginning of this week, speaking on Canal+, the Italian assured that he had "spoke with Hervé Poncharal. He's a really nice guy. I didn't know him before, and he's one of those guys who has a lot of experience in MotoGP, he's been there forever. We had a good conversation, he explained a lot to me about what's going on. So, I've established a good relationship with him.".
However, Günther Steiner is still unsure whether there is an opportunity to be seized. "If there is, I'll think about it, but nothing has been decided yet. I don't know my role yet. But it would be more as an investor or something like that.", he specifies. The former boss of Haas F1 is in no hurry in any case.
"There's no deadline. If it happens, great; if it doesn't, too bad. I'm pretty happy where I am, but yes, I'm working on it. I hope that by the end of the year, I'll know more. At least, I'll know if it's happening or not." So the answer will be in the coming weeks.
