Victim of a violent fall during the Qatar Grand Prix of MotoGPJorge Martín spent the night at the General Hamad Hospital for observation. It was an unfortunate end to the weekend for the reigning world champion, who was making his return to competition after missing the first three races of the season.

On the evening of the race, it was learned that he had suffered chest trauma with contusions and a pneumothorax. Further information on his condition was released this Monday morning.

The CT scan performed at the hospital confirmed that Jorge Martín does not suffer any damage to the brain, cervical spine, or abdominal organs. However, the damage to the rib cage is significant: eight fractures of the posterior costal arches (from the first to the eighth rib) and three fractures of the lateral arches (from the seventh to the ninth rib) have been identified, as confirmed by ApriliaMild pleural inflammation also persists in the setting of the already diagnosed pneumothorax.

Despite these serious injuries, the Spanish driver remains conscious and stable. He will, however, remain under observation for several days until the pneumothorax resolves naturally.

The next MotoGP round is scheduled in two weeks, on April 27, for the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez, a home race for Jorge Martín. However, with a dozen new fractures to heal, his participation in the next round remains highly uncertain, if not completely compromised.

This is another blow for Aprilia, which had hoped to finally harness the talent of its new recruit to advance the RS-GP. While awaiting further information on his condition and his possible return to action, Jorge Martín remains under strict medical supervision.
