Starting from second on the grid, Alex Marquez recorded his worst result of the season in Qatar, ending a run of seven consecutive second-place finishes.

After a promising start, the Spanish driver's weekend became complicated following several incidents on the track. The first was contact with his brother, Marc, on the first corner of the race.

Then, when he tried to regain his position from Fabio Di Giannantonio in Turn 12 after being passed at Turn 10. This miscalculated maneuver sent Di Giannantonio out of the points and cost Alex a long lap penalty. All these errors for which he admits responsibility.

"It's a shame about this race. I have to apologize to Diggia because it was a miscalculation on my part and I think the penalty is correct, confides Alex Marquez on the evening of the race. But we came back safely."

Alex Marquez has, in fact, managed to climb back into the pack to secure an important sixth place in the fight for the championship, which he has just lost the lead of.

"We have to be satisfied with this sixth position, He continues. These are important points for the championship and unfortunately there is not much to celebrate today. We go to Jerez with a solid weekend behind us anyway."

The Qatar GP was therefore fraught with frustration for Alex Marquez, but he sees the positives in the situation. With this sixth place, Alex Marquez retains important points in the race for the world title. He now sits second in the overall standings with 106 points, behind Marc Marquez (123 points) and ahead of Francesco Bagnaia (97 points).

We're being too lenient with the bulldozer Marquez brothers. This is high-speed MotoGP, not motocross.
