- Starting from pole position, Marc Marquez was unable to maintain his lead at the start. The Spaniard and his younger brother, Alex, touched in the opening corners, and Franco Morbidelli took advantage to move ahead. Behind, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Maverick Vinales broke away from the pack and got the better of fabio quartararo.
- Eleventh on the starting grid, Pecco Bagnaia limited the damage from the start of the race, and moved up to sixth position.
- Marc Marquez appears to be struggling on corner entry, and the aerodynamic appendage that flew off during contact with his brother could be the reason. The No. 93 car is stuck, which benefits Franco Morbidelli, who has a lead of almost a second over his rivals after three laps.
- After being passed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Alex Marquez tried to resist braking, but made a complete mistake, sending both men wide. He was assessed a long lap penalty moments later. This incident benefited Pecco Bagnaia, who was now third, just behind Marc Marquez. The two teammates prepared for their first on-track battle of the season.
- The #63 driver wasted no time in attacking Marquez, easily passing him under braking before Turn 1. Two laps later, it was the Spaniard's turn to go inside his rival under braking at the same point. Their duel would be disrupted, however, by Maverick Vinales's sudden return to form, and would successively surprise both factory Ducati riders before the halfway point.
- The rest of the race saw Franco Morbidelli slow down, and a sublime three-way battle between the leader, Maverick Vinales, and Marc Marquez enlivened the 10th and 11th laps. The Italian was forced to give up his position, and was quickly overtaken by Pecco Bagnaia, who was lying in wait behind the two leaders.
- Maverick Vinales thus propels himself into the lead of the race, ahead of the two Ducati riders. Behind, Johann Zarco creates a surprise, easily overcoming Franco Morbidelli in an attempt to keep the wheel of Pecco Bagnaia, in fourth position.
Marc Marquez returns to victory in Qatar
- Marc Marquez then waited patiently behind Maverick Vinales, waiting for his compatriot to make a mistake. He got what he wanted a few laps from the end, when the KTM rider took a slightly wide line. However, nothing was decided, and as the race drew to a close, the top three, completed by Pecco Bagnaia, tightened up at high speed.
- The Cervera native, however, upped the pace, and set a string of timed laps to relegate his rivals to one second, and head towards a potential third victory in four rounds this season. He was ultimately not troubled, and became the first driver to win from pole in Qatar in MotoGP since the 2017 edition of the event.
- Maverick Vinales holds off Bagnaia to secure KTM's first podium of the year, and Tech3's first MotoGP podium since Pedro Acosta at the 2024 Thailand Grand Prix.
- Franco Morbidelli snatched fourth place from Johann Zarco, who ultimately finished fifth, ahead of the two Gresini riders. Fabio Quartararo finished a solo race in eighth place.
- Returning to the track after missing the entire start of the season, Jorge Martín had set himself the goal of finishing the race. However, an unfortunate crash on lap fifteen put him further away from that dream.
