Free Practice 2:
- Free practice 2 of the Qatar GP MotoGP were marked by successive errors by the Marquez brothers. Alex opened the scoring, falling in the first minutes of the session. Marc followed his younger brother, almost losing control of his bike the first time, then going off the track during another slight error.
- These incidents do not affect their ranking, since before the checkered flag, they occupy the first two positions, the multiple world champion ahead of the Gresini driver.
- fabio quartararo creates a surprise and completes the top three, almost half a second behind Marc Marquez's benchmark time of 3:1. Even more surprising, the fourth driver in the standings is none other than the other French driver on the grid, Johann Zarco.
- Jorge Martín is progressing this Saturday, and is getting closer to the top 15 with a time of 1:53.071.
MotoGP Qatar – Qualifying Results:
Qualification 1:
- Jorge Martín caused a surprise in Qualifying 1, positioning himself from the start as a serious contender for the top two positions. After a complicated Friday at Aprilia, Ai Ogura took the lead with a time of 1:51.502, but the Spaniard remains his main rival. Behind him, the one who could deprive him of this feat is none other than his garage neighbor, Marco Bezzecchi.
- However, in front of the checkered dragua, Alex Rins relegates the two official Aprilia riders to third and fourth positions.
- Jorge Martín didn't take any risks, but in his final effort, he was the fastest on track in the first sector, keeping his hopes of reaching Q2 alive. He lost three tenths in the second sector, then maintained a good pace towards the end of his lap. However, it wasn't enough to join the twelve drivers who would contest Q2. The reigning world champion nevertheless managed to escape with the satisfaction of finishing a tenth behind his teammate on his return to action.
- Ai Ogura is once again the fastest Aprilia rider in Qualifying, as Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin will start the weekend's races 13th and 14th.
Qualification 2:
- From the start of Q2, the Marquez brothers set the pace. Having locked out the top two positions in every qualifying round this year, they are clearly the favorites in Qatar as well. Behind them, Franco Morbidelli holds down a provisional spot on the front row, while Pecco Bagnaia is only ninth after the first few attempts.
- The Italian then tried to make up for lost time in his second attempt, but the worst happened. Pushing a little too hard to get back to the top of the standings, the #63 driver crashed in Turn 4, and his hopes of a front row seat were dashed. His final ranking was then subject to the potential improvement in the other drivers' times.
- In their final effort, Alex Marquez and Fabio Quartararo outclassed Marc Marquez and took the lead on the scoreboard. The multiple world champion, however, had one last attempt to secure his fourth consecutive pole position. With a time of 1:50.499 before the checkered flag, he managed to do so by a tenth.
- Pecco Bagnaia finally finished Q2 of the Qatar MotoGP GP with the eleventh fastest time, a poor performance for the most recent winner.
- Johann Zarco finished seventh, seven tenths behind Marc Marquez's time.
