Qatar – Sprint: Marc Marquez still undefeated

  • After the Qualifying of the Grand Prix of Qatar MotoGP, the Marquez brothers once again blocked the first two positions on the starting grid. But the big surprise was above all the front row of fabio quartararoAs the lights went out under the Losail searchlights, these three men each kept their positions.
  • They thus completed the first lap, observing each other, but the first attempt was not long in coming. From the first corner of the second lap to cover, Alex Marquez attacked his elder, without managing to finish. Behind, Franco Morbidelli got the better of Fabio Quartararo, and took advantage of the battle between the two brothers to return to the lead of the race. At the start of the race, the top-6, completed by Johann Zarco, was separated by a second.
  • Starting eleventh, Pecco Bagnaia had a nightmare start to the sprint. He got off to a great start, but was quickly overwhelmed by attacks from his rivals. On the third lap of the race, it was Jorge Martin, who had started fourteenth after returning from injury, who snatched eleventh place from him.
  • At the halfway point, Marc Marquez began to pull away. He remained in first place, seven tenths ahead of his younger brother, who himself had a lead of almost a second over Franco Morbidelli. Behind him, Fabio Quartararo kept pace with the leaders and did not let the Italian escape.
  • At the end of the race, the soft tires failed for many drivers. Johann Zarco, Maverick Vinales, and Ai Ogura tumbled down the order of the order. Fermin Aldeguer was promoted to fifth place, while Pecco Bagnaia climbed back to the points.
  • Pecco Bagnaia began to limit the damage. He successively overtook Pedro Acosta, Marco Bezzecchi, and Maverick Vinales to pick up a few points. He ultimately finished eighth, with two points in his pocket.
  • Up front, Marc Marquez is not worried. He has finished his fourth consecutive Sprint in the lead, just ahead of his younger brother.
  • After being challenged by Fabio Quartararo in the final few hundred meters, Franco Morbidelli finally took third place. The Frenchman did not finish fourth, however, as he was surprised by Fermin Aldeguer on the final lap of the race.
  • Jorge Martín achieved his goal by finishing the race, despite only finishing 16th. Johann Zarco retired shortly before the end of the race, choosing to return to his pit box.
