Brad Binder's speed record equaled in MotoGP - Red Bull Content Pool
The MotoGP are getting faster and faster, and for some years now, speed records have only been held for very short periods. 2024 was no exception. Eight records entered the top 13 of the highest speeds ever achieved.
First of all, the record that Brad Binder set at the 2023 Italian Grand Prix was equaled. Unsurprisingly, it was also at Mugello that Pol Espargaro reached the speed of 366.1 km/h on his RC16. The long straight before the first corner is conducive to setting these kinds of marks.
All the other marks in this table have also been recorded on the Italian site. In second place, five riders are tied, having posted 364.8 km/h on the speedometer. Here we find the first Ducati in the table, with the mark set by Enea Bastianini last year during the Sprint.
Equally, Alex Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi achieved this with the same machine, but one year later. Ducati's satellite teams have the GP23 this year, one season after the official team.
Jorge Martin completes a top-3 where this time we find six drivers with the same mark. The Spaniard is the only representative of this ranking to have set his mark before the 2023 season. The n°89 had managed to reach 363.6 km/h during the race at Mugello in 2022.
It is also in third position that we can see the only top speed of the top-3 recorded by a Japanese machine. Joan Mir was thus the fastest during the Warm UP of this year.
