- In the heat of Buriram, the pilots of MotoGP are off to the second session of the day. The Thailand Grand Prix Tests will determine the names of the first ten drivers who will qualify directly for Q2.
- When the first times were set, Johann Zarco was the first to take the lead on the scoreboard. However, he was quickly caught by Marc Marquez, who continued to establish himself as the favourite for this weekend's races.
- The Spaniard improves his times as the session goes on, and his biggest rival is called Pedro Acosta. The Spaniard shows that the RC16 has the potential to play at the front in Thailand, by holding his own against the multiple world champion in terms of time.
- Shortly after the half-hour mark, Johann Zarco got back in the saddle and set a new benchmark. This time, the Frenchman clocked 1:29.624, two tenths faster than Marc Marquez. The multiple world champion quickly returned to the charge, however, and outclassed his opponents with a time of 1:29.197. Pedro Acosta was close behind him, while Alex Marquez joined the battle.
- Just after taking cover by setting the third fastest time, Marco Bezzecchi tried to improve, but made a mistake and crashed. The yellow flags raised after the incident prevented the other riders from doing better. Marc Marquez was beaten by his younger brother, Alex Marquez. The brothers finished ahead of Pedro Acosta and Marco Bezzecchi.
- This incident does not suit Pecco Bagnaia, who was outside the top 10 at the time of the crash. The Italian has started this new season badly, since he will have to go through Q1 this Saturday morning after being hindered by Franco Morbidelli.

- The French, fabio quartararo and Johann Zarco on the contrary, have a positive start. The Nice native finished eighth, and the Cannes native tenth. They are therefore both qualified for Q2.
- Ai Ogura impresses on his Aprilia, taking ninth place, making him the best rookie in MotoGP.
