In many ways, Jorge Martín faces a real obstacle course at the start of the 2025 season. Injured in his left hand during the winter tests in Sepang, Malaysia, the reigning World Champion suffered around ten fractures in his second consecutive accident, upon his return to competition.

On April 23, the Spaniard left the hospital after more than a week, but stated that he was still experiencing a lot of pain. Four days later, the news is even better for him, according to the medical director of the MotoGP, Doctor Angel Charte.

Many fractures healed for Jorge Martín

"Martin has perfect lungs. The pleura, the membrane that surrounds the lung, is completely closed. Furthermore, of the eleven theoretical fractures he had, only three remain, explains Dr. Angel Charte.  Therefore, in my opinion, the development has been very positive. We will now wait as long as necessary and continue to monitor the development of these fractures from Madrid."

At this stage, a quick return to competition still seems premature given his still-present fractures. Although no return date has been communicated by Aprilia, the team's CEO already announced this week that his return to Madrid would allow them to more accurately estimate how events will unfold.

Meanwhile, the experienced Lorenzo Savadori will continue to ride for the Noale brand for the remainder of the season. Still well off the top, Aprilia currently sits in eighth place in the team standings. Massimo Rivola's stated objective is clear: "Take this opportunity to continue developing the bike so that when Jorge comes back he finds a better machine than it is now."
