Francesco Bagnaia took the third time ahead of fabio quartararo who led the session before being pushed back to fourth place. However, the world champion did a series of fast laps in preparation for the race.
Aleix Espargaro closed the doors to the Top 5 and placed a fifth different manufacturer in the top five. It's more difficult on the KTM side; Raul Fernandez, Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder having made mistakes. The South African is the first Austrian representative in 18e position.
Johann Zarco was in ninth place behind Joan Mir, Jack Miller (winner last year) and Maverick Viñales. Marc Marquez was 13e.
