More fear than harm for fabio quartararo on Italian soil. After several hours of doubt, Yamaha confirmed this Friday evening that the 2021 world champion could return to his bike on Saturday, despite the fall suffered earlier in the day. Although it was not the most spectacular, the hesitation remained mainly due to the fact that the shoulder was in direct contact with the ground at the time of the imbalance, causing a less than reassuring reaction from the rider.

That said, now that the doubts surrounding his health have been lifted, the fact that he finished the day in a promising fifth place contrasts with the disappointment he displayed at the last meeting in Aragon. Having failed to score any new points after three consecutive weekends during which he set the pole position time, the Frenchman seems to have started on a better footing at the end of June.

A new show of force for Quartararo?

With three pole positions at Jerez, Le Mans and Silverstone, Fabio Quartararo appeared smiling on Canal+ before the tests, clearly able to rediscover his best feelings in Italy. "It's one of my favorite circuits. The only thing that bothers us a little bit is the straight, it's quite long, did he consent. I know, however, that over a lap, we can go very fast. In a sprint and in a race it will be a different story, but I think in any case that we will be able to fight for a good position."

Just as in previous race weekends, Fabio Quartararo could experience the same difficulties keeping his tires alive for many laps against the formidable Ducatis. Moreover, with Maverick Viñales joining the party, ahead of Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez this Friday, the Yamaha rider could face even more competition if he were to fight for a fourth pole position this season. The grid order will be revealed after qualifying, with the session starting at 10:45 a.m. (French time) this Saturday.
