With three consecutive pole positions so far, fabio quartararo fell from a great height this weekend. Totally dissatisfied with the behavior of his bike after the Friday test day, and only ninth on the starting grid for both races, the Yamaha rider expressed his disappointment to Canal+ after Sunday's race.
"I'm especially happy to have finished such a catastrophic weekend, he clearly commented. Honestly, we didn't really understand the problems we were having. It can happen, but going from three Grands Prix where we were really much better in terms of performance to a new clean sheet was complicated. We'll go back to Mugello with the same settings as at Silverstone and we'll try to work in a better context."
No teaching for Quartararo in Aragon
On an upward slope for several weeks, Fabio Quartararo was able to count on a Yamaha that was clearly improving. This weekend, the impression left by the French rider seems difficult to read, who clearly does not seem inclined to base his decision on the work done since the end of the Silverstone Grand Prix.
"Tomorrow's test will not be a clearing, no, he replied when discussing the new rounds planned on the same Aragon circuit this Monday. We have a few details to try out, we'll see the difference in the engine in particular, but we won't have to rely on the settings we make here. I felt really good in the last four races but not in this one, so we'll mainly try to start off on a better footing for the next Grand Prix."
Despite much lower expectations this weekend given the track conditions, Fabio Quartararo maintains that this sudden drop in performance is not what he expected for his return to Spanish soil. "I didn't expect anything from this Grand Prix but I didn't expect to have these kinds of problems either, was he surprisedI think the situation is delicate, it's strange to feel the problems we had during this race so it's very complicated to start with such bad feelings."
At Mugello, the first laps scheduled for June 20 will show whether Yamaha has had time to get back into better shape and thus make a new step forward.
