After a discreet Sprint during the Portuguese GP of MotoGP, fabio quartararo had a solid race, finishing just behind the European bikes from Ducati and KTM.

Long ninth, the Frenchman lost a place after the return of Marco Bezzecchi's VR46, and then took advantage of the collision between Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia, and the retirement of Maverick Vinales to cross the checkered flag in seventh position, 20.130s from the first.

The Yamaha rider's weekend is not over, however, since the Japanese factory will not leave the circuit anytime soon, and will take advantage of this Monday to carry out private tests.

“After the Sprint I expected to finish a little closer to the front in the race, but position-wise I expected this result, explains the Nice resident. We have some good data to analyze, and I hope we can make some progress. It looks like the weather is pretty bad this Monday, but hopefully we'll have a good day to try some things.

Looks like we have a lot of stuff to test, which will be great, He continues. Hopefully time will allow us to test them. We have a lot of little things that we need to improve little by little. We are on the right track, but we must be patient. »

Zarco in difficulty

For his part, Johann Zarco had a complicated ordeal, during which he remained stuck for a long time between the Hondas of Luca Marini and Joan Mir. After the incidents at the end of the race, the Frenchman moved up slightly in the hierarchy, and finally won the point reserved for fifteenth.

“The race was difficult, I didn't expect to struggle this way, expresses number 5 at the microphone of Canal+. Lap after lap we learned a lot and in the end we took a point. We now have a direction to follow that will help us in Austin.

I missed my departure, the bike jumped a lot but I managed to slip through, He continues. I tried to hang on to the peloton in front but it was impossible to ride in minute 39. No way to steer the bike, and it started to vibrate a bit like during the 'Sprint race' in Qatar.

I tried to follow the group with Rins, Di Giannantonio and another for a few points and it got worse and worse. With this vibration, I couldn't take the last turn, it was too complicated. At the end there were falls which rewarded me with a point and that allowed me to hold on until the end »concludes Zarco.

Vibes that Joan Mir would also have mentioned, although he kept a good pace. The objective will be to find the causes of this problem before the MotoGP GP of the Americas which will take place in a little less than a month.
