Although he started from pole position on the grid for the Jerez sprint race, fabio quartararo was well aware that he didn't have the weapons to hold on to first place until the end. Despite everything, the Yamaha rider tried. During one lap, he managed to relegate Marc Márquez to second place before falling at the start of the sixth turn of the second loop.

Lucid, the person concerned spoke after the Spaniard's victory on Canal+. "I knew very well that I wanted to be the leader. It had been a few years since I was in front, so from the first corner I wanted to attack, but we know very well that when we have a lot of fuel we have to do more laps, he added, quickly drawing conclusions from his mistake. Unfortunately, we were really at our limit. I tried, I pushed, but it didn't work. Tomorrow, we'll start a little more calmly."

Quartararo aims for a podium on Sunday

Analyzing his brief race, Fabio Quartararo seemed to need to experience the feeling of leading a race again. Regardless of strategic considerations, the Frenchman, now confident in his strengths, is focusing on what he must do well on Sunday to avoid a similar scenario.

"I knew very well that if I wanted to try to be a leader I couldn't pass it at all. The only moment was that one., he first commented. Then, we can clearly see that we struggle with acceleration. In the end, I think it did me good mentally. Even though we didn't finish the race, I managed to be the leader by a few meters (smiles). So it did me good mentally, and I think we know we have the ability to ride very fast, he split, ambitious. Today we had the pace, not at all to win but to finish second or third. We'll try to get off to a good start tomorrow and fight for the podium."

Ducati's dominance still clear

Normally, it seemed impossible for Fabio Quartararo to contain the speed of Marc Márquez. Without his crash, the Yamaha rider would certainly have had to deal with the comebacks of Álex Márquez and Francesco Bagnaia fairly quickly. Here again, the surprise poleman of the weekend takes a step back and analyzes the elements that make the Italian team so strong.

"They manage to put a little more angle before (negotiating a bend. Ed.), but with the grip they have, they manage to turn really well and accelerate much more than us, he explained. In the race I couldn't see because I fell right where Marc overtook me but in the end I think that's a bit of a trend this year."

With at least three faster bikes behind, Fabio Quartararo will face even fiercer competition on Sunday. This time, the challenge seems to be to maximize points, whereas the temptation of victory took over on Saturday. The race will begin Sunday at 14:00 PM (French time).

Let's be honest, he deserved to win his first sprint with Yamaha, but Fabio wanted to make it too disgusting that he lost a lap and a half.

After one lap the race was over, MotoGP is unfortunately becoming more and more like F1; a procession with suspense to see who will be 1st after the 6 Ducatis.
