Espargaró will have to continue for a few more days the long rehabilitation started following his fall during the opening of the 2023 season on the Algarve circuit in Portugal.

This violent fall last March inflicted very serious injuries on him, including a double jaw fracture, ear damage, cervical fractures, nerve complications, two ribs and three fractured vertebrae.

Le Team Tech3 GASGAS hopes that it is only a postponement for its star driver who will take advantage of these few additional days of rest to ensure that he returns in the best possible conditions. The period is not ideal for the Spaniard because the Italian Grand Prix is immediately followed by a stop at the Sachsenring for the German Grand Prix, before closing this Triple Header at the Assen Circuit for the Grand Prix From the Netherlands.

In the meantime, Pol's teammate, Augusto Fernandez, will once again be accompanied to Italy by Jonas Folger. The German will make his fourth appearance at Mugello “in red” this season after the United States, Spain and France.

Pol Espargaró: “I was really looking forward to getting back on the bike but, as I said from the beginning, the final decision is up to the doctors and they asked me to wait a few more days. My original plan was to return for one of the next three races before the summer break and that continues to be my goal. The most important thing is to be physically ready, and this package gives me a few more days to continue working at home and arrive in the best possible shape and above all as soon as possible. I feel really good and I'm really motivated. I hope to reunite with the team and the fans as soon as possible. »
