The final chapter of the 2024 season of MotoGP has arrived, with the Solidarity Grand Prix, in Barcelona. Jorge Martín or Francesco Bagnaia, one of these two men will become World Champion. The two Ducati riders are separated by 19 points. With a ninth place, Martín would secure the title regardless of Bagnaia's result. This is the third year in a row that the title has been decided in the last race.

The reigning double world champion will have to rely on a bad race from his opponent and the presence of several other riders behind him if he were to win, to maintain his chances of being crowned champion. If he does not succeed, Jorge Martín will take the number 1 with him to Aprilia, where he will compete in the 2025 MotoGP season, while Francesco Bagnaia will remain in the Ducati factory team, where he will welcome Marc Márquez.

Barcelona – Race: Bagnaia wins, Martin takes the title!

24 / 24 - Martín receives congratulations from Aleix Espargaró, Michele Pirro and Johann Zarco, who was his teammate in his last seasons at Pramac before leaving for LCR Honda!

24 / 24 - This is the first time in the MotoGP era, which began in 2002, that a rider has won the title riding a machine from a satellite team!

24/24 – … but Jorge Martín finishes third and becomes 2024 MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPION!

24 / 24 - 🏁 Francesco Bagnaia wins the Grand Prix of Solidarity…

24 / 24 - We enter the last lap, Francesco Bagnaia is getting closer to his eleventh victory of the season, but he is not in a favorable position for the title, still provisionally in the hands of Jorge Martín!

23 / 24 - Jorge Martin is only two laps away from his first MotoGP title, the tension is at its peak in the Pramac garage where the Spaniard's entire family has gathered!

22 / 24 - ⚠️ Álex Rins' season definitely ends on a bad note, the Yamaha rider gets a double long lap… because he didn't do his first long lap…

22 / 24 - Just three laps to go for Pecco Bagnaia, who continues to lead and slightly increases his lead over Marc Márquez. Jorge Martín is back to less than two seconds of the leading duo, and he is getting closer to a first title.

21 / 24 - Álex Márquez tries to attack Aleix Espargaró for fourth place, but "El Capitano" manages to stay in front, for his last Grand Prix!

20 / 24 - We are entering the last five laps! 1'41″4 for the two leaders in the last lap, Jorge Martín takes back two tenths, are we at the critical moment for the soft tire at the rear?

19 / 24 - ⚠️ Álex Rins receives a long lap for short-circuiting the second turn.

19 / 24 - And now it is Morbidelli who overtakes Acosta, the young Spanish prodigy is in difficulty in this last third of the race.

18 / 24 - Brad Binder also overtakes his future teammate. The two men are fighting for fifth place in the championship, for now Acosta would keep it with a one-point lead.

17 / 24 - Marquez resists, he comes back to four tenths of a second behind Bagnaia, while the two men widen the gap on Martín. Bastianini takes sixth place ahead of Pedro Acosta.

15 / 24 - Bagnaia picks up a metronomic rhythm, and he widens the gap on Marc Márquez who is now more than half a second behind. Martín is 1″7 behind. For the moment, the Spaniard would win the title with a ten-point lead.

14 / 24 - Still third, Jorge Martín has no reason to panic at all for the moment, he has a one-second lead over Aleix Espargaró.

13 / 24 - Here we are at the halfway point of this final! Pecco Bagnaia is back in a good rhythm in 1'40″5, he still has a few tenths of a lead over Marc Márquez, who has a 1″3 lead over Jorge Martín.

12 / 24 - The battle rages for fourth place, Aleix Espargaró manages to stay ahead of Álex Márquez for now, he gives his all to protect Jorge Martín in front of him!

11 / 24 - Bagnaia clocked 1'40″665, about half a second slower than at the start of the race, but he maintained his lead.

10 / 24 - Like yesterday in the Sprint race, Pecco Bagnaia seems to be starting to suffer with his rear tyre. Will the choice of the soft tyre backfire on the reigning double World Champion? Bagnaia goes wide at turn 5 but Marc Márquez stays behind!

9 / 24 - Two tenths of a second gap at the third of the race between Bagnaia and Márquez, with Mártin, Espargaró and Álex Márquez behind.

8 / 24 - Alex Marquez overtakes Enea Bastianini, who goes wide and is also overtaken by Pedro Acosta and Franco Morbidelli, the Italian is now eighth but he takes priority from Morbidelli at turn 7!

7 / 24 - 💥 Fall of Joan Mir, the 2020 World Champion closes a very difficult season on the Honda.

7 / 24 - There is now a one-second gap between the leading duo and Jorge Martín.

7 / 24 - Marquez is in a difficult situation, since he seems faster than Bagnaia, who will be his teammate next year! Out of the question to tempt the devil…

6 / 24 - At the end of the straight, Marc Márquez continues to put pressure on Bagnaia, but the Italian still controls his braking and maintains the lead of the Grand Prix.

5 / 24 - Bagnaia and Márquez are eight tenths ahead of Martín, who can still count on Aleix Espargaró who has the knife between his teeth and who repels all of Bastianini's attacks. The two men are not teammates, but Espargaró took Martín under his wing from the start of the number 89's career, so their relationship is special!

4 / 24 - Fastest lap in the race for Pecco Bagnaia, who is working to increase the gap. He must win or finish second to keep his title chances alive.

3 / 24 - The two drivers pass and re-pass each other, allowing the top 3 to escape somewhat.

3 / 24 - And as he promised, Aleix Espargaró tries to help Jorge Martín, he overtakes Bastianini for fourth place.

3 / 24 - Martin is holding on to third place for the moment, but Enea Bastianini is getting more and more pressing, while Marc Márquez is putting pressure on Francesco Bagnaia.

2 / 24 - Marc Márquez takes second place, will he be able to take Jorge Martín in his wheel to try to catch up with Pecco Bagnaia? The Italian attacks from the start, with his softest rear tyre.

1 / 24 - fabio quartararo is tenth in the first lap, while Johann Zarco has slipped to 19th place. Bagnaia still in the lead at the end of the first loop, ahead of Martín and Marc Márquez.

1 / 24 - Very good start from Bagnaia, Martín takes second place ahead of Marc Márquez. Like yesterday, Aleix Espargaró is in difficulty on his take-off, he who wanted to help his compatriot from Pramac.

1 / 24 - 🟢 Here we go for this last Grand Prix of the year!

14h01 - Everyone has fitted the hard tyre at the front, except for Johann Zarco, who will try the medium tyre. 134 spectators made the trip over the weekend to watch this grand finale!

14h00 -☀️ 18°c in the air, 19 on the track, very similar conditions to yesterday afternoon's Sprint, which took place an hour later.

13h59 - The starting grid is cleared, in preparation for the start of the formation lap. Piero Taramasso, Michelin's two-wheel racing director, explained that the soft tyre will allow for a better start but that it will have to be managed over the entire event, where the medium will be more consistent.

13h58 - Both title contenders will start with a hard tyre at the front. Bagnaia has opted for a soft at the rear, unlike Martín, who will start on a medium. The Italian thought it would be difficult to make the soft last until the finish, but he will take the risk!

13h57 - Less than five minutes now before the start of this final joust, under a bright sun and in front of a packed main stand. The scene is set, all that remains for the drivers is to give it their all for 24 laps.

13h54 - For the third time in a row, the world title will be decided in the last race of the season, but this time in Barcelona and not in Valencia, as tradition dictates. The Valencian city was hit by deadly floods, which forced this alternative solution in Catalonia.

13h50 - The different scenarios for the fight for the title this afternoon:

How can Pecco Bagnaia still be champion in Barcelona?

13h47 - Francesco Bagnaia will start from pole position, ahead of Aleix Espargaró and Marc Márquez. Fourth, Jorge Martín must finish at least ninth to secure the title, even if Bagnaia wins.
