It was a rumor that had been circulating for some time, it is now official: GasGas will make its debut in MotoGP in 2023 by partnering with the Tech3 team led by Hervé Poncharal. The tricolor structure will thus move from independent status to Factory Team by joining the GasGas clan. One of the two representatives will be Pol Espargaro who will return to the tricolor structure with which he officiated from 2014 (his debut in MotoGP) to 2016 riding a Yamaha YZR-M1 at the time.

In 2023, the Spaniard, former Moto2 world champion, will race on a GasGas which is nothing other than a KTM RC16 with which he rode from 2017 to 2020. “GASGAS is a victorious brand, specifies Pit Beirer, Director of GASGAS Motorsports. She immediately reached an incredible level of performance in disciplines like MXGP, Supercross, Enduro and Rally where we won Grand Prix, Main Events, World Titles and trophies. It's a relatively new brand for us and we have new goals.

“We hope fans who follow “the red” will enjoy the story. Thanks to our strong partner, the Aspar team in Moto3 and Moto2, we were able to see the GASGAS at the top of these categories. It would be great to see the same one day in the toughest category of all. I want to thank Hervé and the Tech3 factory racing team for keeping an open mind and really supporting this change to become the GASGAS Factory Racing Team. We think it's exciting and different. »

Miguel Oliveira at GasGas?

As for who Espargaro's teammate will be in 2023, Pit Beirer clarifies that negotiations are not yet complete with Miguel Oliveira. If the Portuguese accepts the offer, what will become of Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez? The first is expected at RNF… as for the second, reigning Moto2 world champion, he is not closing the doors to WorldSBK.
