Handicapped three places on the starting grid, Jorge Martín started seventh in a Sprint he would never finish. Yet, the start of the race by the Madrid native suggested a very different outcome.

When the lights went out, the "Martinator" leaped forward to immediately reposition himself at the front. But just as he had snatched third place from Álex Márquez, everything changed for the Aprilia rider, betrayed by his machine.

« I already felt during the warm-up lap that something was wrong with the front end. I ignored it, started the race, and was fast. I was able to overtake Álex Márquez. I was at the front, but when I braked for the first corner, I couldn't stop. I went straight on and realized something was wrong, so I asked to pit. he explained to the media present at the scene, including AUTOhebdoThe past has taught me to react calmly to these difficult situations. Now, I focus solely on improving tomorrow. I feel good, but there's always something to improve."

Despite this technical setback, Jorge Martín remains combative. That's racing; sometimes you lose a race due to a mechanical issue. Anyway, I don't know if it would have been better to be in the pit box or outside today. (Heavy downpours occurred during the race, Ed.). It was nice to watch the race from the outside., he jokes. The important thing is to learn from this problem and ensure it doesn't happen again."

Beyond this retirement, the 2024 world champion has had to contend with three crashes since the start of the weekend. This record doesn't seem to have shaken his confidence. "The important thing when you crash is to understand why. It's worrying when you don't know why; it means you don't have the feel. But I know very well why I crashed. I have a great feel for the bike." reassures number 89. I'm very happy with our package. Tomorrow I'll have another opportunity to be fast. I just need to string together some laps because that's what I'm lacking. Tomorrow I have 25. »

After a season largely hampered by injuries, Jorge Martín now feels he has truly found his rhythm on the RS-GP. I was surprised to be on the podium in the first few races. Now, in my fourth race, I know my talent and the bike is working very well. He says. I'm starting to get to know it, to know when to overtake, to be fast. There are still two or three things I need to test on Monday that the other drivers are already using, but I know what I have. If these things work, I know I can improve. Little by little. »

Although Jorge Martín was unable to reach the finish line on Saturday, he saw his rival Marc Márquez take the win and equal his historic record of 17 Sprint victories.
