A hundredth victory and one more title for Ducati at Misano

Ducati celebrates its fifth consecutive title at Misano - Ducati Corse

Blocking the first four positions in the Sprint, and the final top-5 of the main race, the Borgo Panigale team left no chance to KTM or Aprilia to push back the deadline, while this title would have come back to them sooner or later.

The Bologna factory has in fact won 13 of the 14 rounds contested since the start of the season, only losing in Austin (GP of the Americas), against the domination of Maverick Viñales (Aprilia).

Now 261 points ahead of its closest rival, KTM, with only 222 remaining, the Italian firm has secured its fifth consecutive crown. A feat accomplished at the end of a race that lived up to its promise right up until the final lap, when factory rider Enea Bastianini snatched victory from Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing).

MotoGP 2024 Constructors’ Standings – Misano 2:

  1. Ducati – 500 points
  2. KTM – 239 points
  3. Aprilia – 234 points
  4. Yamaha – 84 points
  5. Honda – 42 points

Ducati's 100th victory in the premier class

This victory was not, however, the only feat achieved by Ducati last weekend, as Enea Bastianini allowed Ducati to secure its hundredth victory in MotoGP.

A milestone that until then had only been reached by Honda (157) and Yamaha (125) in the modern era of motorcycle Grand Prix.

On a larger scale, and since the creation of the World Championships, Ducati becomes the fourth manufacturer to reach this figure in the premier class. Honda (313), Yamaha (245) and MV Agusta (139) complete this very closed club.

Asstatistics that will delight the leader of the Reds, Gigi Dall'Igna. “The constructors’ title is a very important result. In addition to Ducati’s hundredth victory in MotoGP. We are very proud. The race was intense and spectacular. I am very happy with Enea’s victory. He did a great job with the team. Especially with an opponent as fierce as Jorge who is always incredibly fast. Too bad for Pecco.”

The work of fifteen pilots

Ducati's first MotoGP victory came at the 2003 Catalan Grand Prix, when Loris Capirossi enjoyed the luxury of taking the top step of the podium.

Other names have since contributed to growing the brand's legend, such as Troy Bayliss, Casey Stoner, who brought Ducati its first title, and Andrea Iannone, who came to end Ducati's desert crossing in 2016, after six years without success.

Andrea Dovizioso, Jorge Lorenzo, Danilo Petrucci, and Jack Miller would follow, before Jorge Martín and Francesco Bagnaia would unlock their counters in 2021, to then contribute to perpetuating the brand's era of unprecedented domination.

More recently, Enea Bastianini, Marco Bezzecchi, Johann Zarco and Fabio Di Giannantonio have distinguished themselves with Ducati, without forgetting the multiple world champion Marc Marquez, who will also join the Rogues next year to try to win a seventh world crown in the premier class with them.

The 15 riders to have won with Ducati in MotoGP:

Francesco Bagnaia – 25

Jack Miller – 3
Jorge Lorenzo – 3
Marco Bezzecchi – 3
