Johann Zarco's first frustration of the day was that while he was on a fast lap, the Frenchman had to cut his effort, victim of the red flag waved by the stewards around the Le Mans circuit. In the early moments of the session, Ai Ogura lost control of his Aprilia belonging to the Trackhouse satellite team.

Although the Japanese driver escaped unharmed, it took a long time for his car to be removed by the marshals, who had difficulty getting it back on track. The session was finally able to resume after a short interruption, allowing all the drivers to return to the track, albeit not without losing a set of tires in the process.

Johann Zarco was one of twelve riders forced to go through to Q1 after missing out on a direct passage to Q2 during Friday afternoon's practice session. The two-time Moto2 world champion, who crashed in the final moments, finished 12th, less than two tenths of a second off the top 10.

In Q1, he joins the three other Honda riders: Joan Mir and Luca Marini for the factory team and Takaaki Nakagami, who has a wild card this weekend. Johann Zarco's teammate, Somkiat Chantra, is out. The rest of the field features the Ducati of Fabio Di Giannantonio, the only non-factory rider to ride the GP25, the latest version of the Italian Desmosedici.

For KTM, Enea Bastianini and Brad Binder were looking to join their teammates Maverick Viñales and Pedro Acosta in Q2. For Yamaha, Alex Rins and Miguel Oliveira were also less successful than their teammates, which was explained in the case of the Portuguese driver by a two-month absence following a shoulder injury. Finally, for Aprilia, the two Trackhouse riders, Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez, accompanied the Noale-based brand's test rider, Lorenzo Savadori, replacing Jorge Martin, who was out with a long-term injury.

At the end of the session, qualification for Q2 went to Johann Zarco, who was brilliant, and Raul Fernandez.
