Viñales suspended by Yamaha ahead of Austrian GP

The argument burns more than ever between Yamaha and Maverick Viñales. The Monster Yamaha Team MotoGP has just published a press release announcing the suspension of the Spaniard for the Austrian GP.

This decision was made due to an irregular and unexplained operation carried out by the rider on the motorcycle during the Styrian GP race last weekend. Yamaha's decision follows extensive analysis of telemetry and data over the past few days. Yamaha's conclusion is that the rider's actions could have potentially caused significant damage to the engine of his YZR-M1, which could result in serious risks to the rider himself and possibly pose a danger to all other riders.. "

According to the first information we have collected, Viñales deliberately drove on the breaker during the last laps of the race; the goal is probably to go as far as engine failure.

This is reminiscent of a certain John Kocinski who also deliberately broke the engine of his Suzuki after finishing third in the 250cc Dutch GP in 1993. The American, who also refused to get on the podium, was then immediately fired from the French team Tech 3. We can imagine that the same fate is reserved for Viñales this year at Yamaha. This weekend he will not be replaced and alone fabio quartararo will represent the official team of the Iwata firm.
