Two-time Superbike World Champion Toprak Razgatlıoğlu will make the big jump to MotoGP from 2026. The Turkish rider, whose transfer rumors to MotoGP have been rife for several seasons now, will make the move to the Pramac Racing team.

During his long career in WorldSBK, the future rookie has already had the opportunity to get to know the Iwata brand. He notably won a world championship title for the first time with the Japanese firm, during the 2021 season. The well-known Yamaha rider therefore serves as an ideal strategic recruit, to strengthen the ties between Pramac and Yamaha

In the past, the latter has already had the opportunity to familiarize himself with a MotoGP machine. He notably tested the YZR-M1, Yamaha's machine, in 2023. A day of private testing in Aragon, which was preceded by some riding time in Jerez.

“We are delighted to welcome Toprak [Razgatlıoğlu] back to the Yamaha family, says Paolo Pavieso, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, via the official announcement. Toprak, Yamaha's all-time winningest Superbike rider, has proven to be an exceptional talent, securing the WorldSBK title twice, which is no mean feat.

« His transition to MotoGP is both a 'homecoming' and an exciting new challenge. Everything has been put in place with the clear objective of gradual growth over time, He continues. His fighting spirit and determination are a perfect fit for the Yamaha Prima Pramac MotoGP Team and the boldness of Yamaha's MotoGP strategy. We therefore believe that 2026 is the right time to make this move that many fans have been waiting for."

The news, which came just after the Aragon GP, ​​comes shortly before the sixth round of the Superbike season. The Turk will compete in Misano, on the home turf of his rival, Nicolo Buegla.

A name that also resonated in the MotoGP paddock on Tuesday. The latter has just signed an agreement to become a Ducati test rider in MotoGP from 2026. They will therefore meet again on track during the Official Tests of the discipline soon.
