Zarco draws first in Austria

A few days after the Styrian GP, ​​the drivers of MotoGP found themselves today on the same route of the Red Bull Ring for the first day of the 11the meeting of the season.

Like last week, rain, or rather hail this time, was among the protagonists before the second session. If the track dried in places and some people passed the slicks in the last minutes, it was according to the morning's classification that the hierarchy clearly dominated by Johann Zarco made its decision. After putting on two soft tires in his final run, the Frenchman set a new circuit record with a time of 1'22.827, beating that of his teammate Jorge Martin achieved last Saturday in Q2.

Pointed at almost eight tenths, Joan Mir took the second time ahead of another Suzuki, that of Alex Rins. Long in the lead, Takaaki Nakagami had to be content with fourth position overall while Aleix Espargaro completed the Top 5 aboard his Aprilia RS-GP.

Sole representative of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team following the suspension of Maverick Viñales, fabio quartararo places the first Yamaha in sixth place ahead of Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia. Marc Marquez, still struggling with his shoulder and right arm, finished Friday in ninth place ahead of Martin, winner last Sunday.
