For their 4e meeting of the season, the competitors in the championship run across the Channel traveled to the north of Scotland and more particularly to Banchory (30 km south-west of Aberdeen) to compete in the Grampian Forest Rally. Nine special stages on gravel representing 92 timed kilometers were on the program.
The main favorites were present, notably Chris Ingram. The 2019 European champion victoriously discovered the Toyota Yaris Rally2 during the Nicky Grist Stages in July outside the championship. This time faced with candidates for the title, the 30-year-old driver who has already won this year in the BRC (at the Legend Fires North West Stages), but on a Volkswagen Polo R5, experienced some difficulties in defining the best settings . He let William Creighton and Osian Pryce lead the proceedings before they stumbled. By winning only one stage, Ingram managed to maintain enough of a lead to win ahead of Pryce and Keith Cronin.
While Ingram confirms that he will have to be counted on to succeed Adrien fourmaux in the BRC record, it brought the first victory to the Yaris in this championship. Supported by Michelin and Castrol, the Englishman is developing a car whose decoration evokes the old Toyota Celica and Corolla.
The next round of the BRC is scheduled for Rali Ceredigion in Wales (30/8-1/9) which will also host theERC.
