While French rally activity is logically in full swing on the side of the Rally Le Touquet – Pas-de-Calais, the French Gravel Rally Championship is preparing for its second round next weekend in Aveyron for the Rallye Terre des Causses. The entry list for the event has just been released and is, logically, a bit larger than it was for the Rallye Castine Terre d'Occitanie at the beginning of March. The main contenders expected in the championship will be there, with the field featuring 26 cars in the Rally2 class. Toyota Victor Cartier's Yaris Rally2 kit and even a WRCThe Citroën DS3 of the 2021 French Gravel Rally Champion, Cyrille Féraud. The Yacco National Gravel Trophy, particularly in the 4-wheel drive category, is also full and welcomes a potential contender for victory in Cyril Audirac, second in the 2024 French Rally Cup Final in Nice.
Who will make it onto the podium in Capdenac?
At the Castine Rally, the Todeschini-Barral duo caused a sensation by winning two years after their last victory at the CFRT. That last victory was indeed achieved in 2024 at the Rallye Terre des Causses, also with the Citroën C3 Rally2 from CHL Sport Auto: needless to say, the crew from southeastern France are among the favorites. The Castine top three will be present in their entirety with the return to French soil of Conner Martell and Alex Gelsomino, runners-up in the Lot Rally, and the presence of Sarah Rumeau and Julie Amblard, third in this opening round. Also worth watching are the drivers seeking redemption: Matthieu Margaillan, Emmanuel Gascou, Benjamin Clémençon, Florian Condamines, and Quentin Ribaud, all of whom suffered setbacks at the Castine Rally and are legitimate contenders for the podium in this second round of the season.
