Leaders of the rally Since SS2, Rumeau and Amblard have continued to lead the way on the Terre des Causses stage, despite a comeback attempt in the afternoon by Conner Martell. The American set the fastest times on SS5 and SS6, closing the gap to 5,9 seconds behind their 2C Compétition teammates. For the first time in their careers, Sarah Rumeau and Julie Amblard finished a day in first place in the French Gravel Rally Championship.
“It’s really very positive, we’re having a lot of fun in the car, the Skoda from the 2C Compétition team is truly fantastic, I’m very happy to be working with them. For the moment, it’s paying off and we’ll try to have the same day tomorrow. The track position won’t change things too much either, we started third today, so there was still quite a bit of sweeping. It will be a good exercise, a first for us.”
Satisfied with a "perfect" stage, Florent Todeschini conceded 10,7 seconds to the fastest time on SS6, but he maintains third place overall with Florian Barral in the co-driver's seat. Matthieu and Mathilde Margaillan, fourth overall, lost a few seconds and some ground on the final stage of the day, losing the front bumper of their Skoda after a minor mistake at a junction. The most notable event of the afternoon was the retirement of Steven Bossard and Jules Escartefigue, who were in third place overall but were unable to finish SS5.
On Sunday, the last four special stages will decide the final standings of a rally that is still very unpredictable!
