After two attempts in 2023, Eliott Delecour resumed his training in the Romanian championship and it is going remarkably well. Now 17 years old (he had them on September 6), the eldest of François and Priscille's two boys has competed in 9 rallies in 2024 in all competitions and he has only retired once due to an electrical problem.

Entered in the Clio Rally5 Challenge, he has 5 wins in the rounds run, for one withdrawal. Occupying the lead of the competition, he will try to conclude during the Raliul Vâlcii (October 19-20). It will also be an opportunity for him to make himself noticed again in 2-wheel drive. The Clio R5 is an excellent car to start with, but it is sometimes limited in performance to fight in particular against the old R2s which are transferred to Rally4. This season, Eliott had to face Tommaso Sandrin. On paper, the 208 R2 of the 18-year-old Italian is faster, but that did not prevent Delecour from beating him twice in the 2-wheel drive classification. The two young men are so hard at it that they often beat competitors riding much more powerful machines. This was again the case in Brasov where Rally2s remained behind the two 2-wheel drive vehicles.

« Before rally, explains Eliott, We were able to do a test session during which we worked on the brake distribution issues that have been bothering us since the start of the season with too many brakes on the front and wheel locks. It went better in Brasov where we immediately took the lead of the race. The first day was quite favorable to us, which allowed us to open up a gap to Sandrin. It was more complicated in the mud and the climbs of the 2e day. » Ranked 7e On the first evening, the Frenchman navigated by Priscille his mother, logically lost ground on more demanding specials. He nevertheless finished in a nice 9th placee final place, winning the 2WD category and the Clio Challenge. In a few weeks, Eliott will be at the start of the Raliul Vâlcii (October 19-20) where he could win the Clio title and the 2WD.

In addition to having scheduled this last round of the Romanian championship, Eliott Delecour should then be at the start of the Var rally (November 22-24) before aiming for participation in the Monte-Carlo (January 23-26, 2025) on a mount yet to be defined.

If he doesn't rush things and is well coached, he can go very high, very far and very quickly towards the summits.
