Citroën will present the C3 R5 at the Rallye du Var

Citroën Racing has unveiled the lines of the future C3 R5 which will be available for sale in the first half of the 2018 season. The Chevron manufacturer will officially present the lines of its mount by entering it as a zero car with the French champion reigning Yoann Bonato and his co-pilot Benjamin Boulloud at the Rally du Var contested from November 23 to 26.

The Citroën C3 R5 began testing at the beginning of September on all types of surfaces, covering more than 4000km. The tricolor frame met the objectives in terms of performance and reliability.

“Yoann Bonato had a superb season in the French Rally Championship and won another title aboard the DS 3 R5, declares Yves Matton, Team Principal of Citroën Racing. Although luck was not always on his side, he performed well in WRC 2 in the last two seasons. It seemed completely logical to put him on the C3 R5 on his first public part at the Rallye du Var. »

“Thanks to the technical choices made well before the first road tests, we were able to complete a series of tests without encountering major technical changes and reach the level of performance”, comments Pierre Budar, the development director of customer racing cars.

“While strengthening the components, we analyzed the configurations regarding the variety of settings depending on the sensitivity of the car and identifying the most effective solutions. We have done a lot of work on the engine to reach final approval,” specifies Pierre Budar.

The Rallye du Var will also be an opportunity to see in action the Toyota Etios R4 developed by Stéphane Sarrazin who will also officiate as car zero.
