Guigou returns to asphalt

Vice Champion of France and winner of the 2 Wheel Drive Trophy last season, Emmanuel Guigou leaves the dirt to put his wheels back on asphalt. A new program designed within a familiar environment. Back from suspension, David Marty will read the notes aboard a Clio R3, equipped with 2009 developments, prepared by Chazel.

“I wanted to take on a new challenge,” explains 'Manu' to AUTOhebdo.fr. “We had to work a lot because the budgets are not the same when you want to drive on asphalt. The off-seasons are always difficult but this year it was really trying. »

“My partners are following me in this new adventure but the financing has not been completed. I hope to be able to count on the bonuses from the BFGoodrich Trophy to last the whole season. »

At the wheel of his 3 horsepower Clio R250, Guigou will be one of the contenders for the podiums in a ranking created for amateurs and which has become essential: “I don't yet know the names of all my opponents and where we will be. Jean-Sébastien Vigion will be at the wheel of a Super 2000 and certainly difficult to compete with. Patrick Rouillard and Olivier Marty are announced in Mégane kit-car. Here again, despite our new 250 horsepower engine, we will have some difficulties on certain rallies like the Lyon-Charbo. But I know the Clio R3 and its 250 horsepower makes it almost as efficient as a Super 1600. I am convinced that this car has the potential to be in the top 5 of the championship at the end of the year. »

The French Rally Championship will begin in Lyon on April 17.
