The health situation in France in the face of the coronavirus pandemic continues to greatly disrupt the organization of motorsport events in France, mainly on the rally scene.
Last race affected, the Terre des Causses, opening of the French Terrestrial Rally Championship scheduled for April 2 to 4, which cannot take place as confirmed by the organizing team this Monday.
“The Organizing Committee of Rally Terre des Causses met this Saturday, February 13 to decide on the feasibility of its 25th edition which should take place on April 2-3 and 4, 2021, says the press release.
Above all, we noted the enormous work put in by the entire team who have been working tirelessly for several months to be able to safely organize a sporting event which looked promising.
However, in the absence of visibility on the evolution of the health situation for the coming weeks, we are forced to make a difficult decision. This requires us to implement a very restrictive health protocol from a logistical and human point of view.
Indeed, the rally must take place behind closed doors, which requires the establishment of an organization prohibiting any public access to the event. The car rally is, for us organizers, a sporting event that we want to share and which must bring together a large number of spectators.
In summary, and taking into account all the uncertainties that this crisis entails, we decide with great regret the cancellation of the Terre des Causses 2021 event. A postponement was considered but agricultural constraints are added to the uncertainty of health conditions. »
The Castine – Terre d’Occitanie Rally (May 7-9) is now the next round planned on the program.
