Manu Guigou taking on Mont-Blanc Morzine

Manu Guigou is preparing for a strong start to the school year as he will take part in the 24 Hours of Paris aboard a four-wheel drive Mégane prototype before signing up for the Rally from Poya in New Caledonia with a Clio RS R3. But the pilot Renault will first have to panic the tachometer of his Mégane RS N4 at the Rallye Mont-Blanc Morzine held from September 7 to 9. After two victories in a row at the Rallye des Vins Mâcon and Rouergue, the driver of the car hit by the Losange is hopeful of continuing this momentum after taking advantage of the summer break to prepare physically.

“For this 2012 edition, the course is very concentrated”, explains Manu Guigou. “There is only one new special. The rest of the route is traditional, all in trajectory with little verticality. Recognition and the role of the co-driver will be crucial. It is an Alpine rally with a lot of elevation change. And what we go up, will we have to go down? The strategy will not differ. You will have to be at full strength on the climbs and at full strength on the descents! The Mégane RS N4 carefully prepared by Chazel Technologies Course has real advantages in such a rally. The engine power and turbo will be very useful at altitude. Tire selection could be a trap. You will have to choose the ride very long before certain loop ends. The time difference and changes in slopes could bring some weather surprises. »
