Yohan Rossel has just received terrible news as he prepares to leave Greece. Leader of the general classification at the finish and given winner of the Acropolis in WRC3 this Sunday, the Tricolore was downgraded by the race direction.

The 2019 French Asphalt champion was in fact excluded due to the excessive weight of the front subframe of his Citroën C3 Rally2 as indicated in the official FIA document. The Frenchman has already encountered this same problem during the Rally from Sardinia earlier this season. Winner in Italy, Yohan Rossel escaped a penalty but not Citroën which left with a fine of €30.000 of which €15.000 had to be paid.

This time, the sanction was heavier and he was stripped of what was supposed to be his 4th victory in 2021. The brand with the double chevron received a new financial penalty, namely €30.000 as in Sardinia, including €5.000. to subscribe immediately. Citroën plans to appeal this decision.

« I'm truly devastatedhe laments. It's not something we can control. This is outside my area of expertise, so I'm unable to say whether those few extra grams change things radically. What I do know, however, is that we had a great race. This exclusion hurts very badly given the investment represented by this participation in the WRC 3 ».

As a result, victory went to the Pole Kajetan Kajetanowicz. Yohan Rossel remains in control of the WRC3 rankings.
