This boy's rebounding ability is definitely astonishing. After a very complicated year, no one would have counted on his presence at this level in 2023 and even less at M Sport. Adrien fourmaux will, however, be there from Monte-Carlo 2023 (January 19 to 22). If he will always be associated with Alexandre Coria, the driver who will be 28 years old next May will not take the controls of a Puma Rally1.

The accidents that marred his season convinced Malcolm Wilson and Richard Millener to take him down a level and enter him in WRC2. Adrien will therefore get back behind the wheel of a Fiesta Rally2 that he has not used since rally Vosges Grand-Est in France (in June) and Estonia 2021 in the world. His campaign will begin in Monte-Carlo. The tricolor's task does not look easy because WRC2 is hotly contested.

Furthermore, even if the Ford will receive some improvements, its level of performance does not currently place it among the favorites in the category. The Citroën C3 and the new Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 now have more arguments and Adrien Fourmaux will have to work hard to be in front. If this step backward can be seen as a setback in his journey, Adrien prefers to see it as an opportunity to move forward.

« In the history of WRC, several pilots went down one floor, He explains. This allowed them to relaunch their careers. Notice where are Ott Tänak or Elfyn Evans today is a source of motivation. While we are happy to continue playing in the world, we must seize this opportunity. »

After Monte-Carlo, the trip to Sweden is planned and then an update will be made on the championship before determining the other meetings. “ The Fiesta Rally2 program is a central part of daily operations here at M-Sport, explained M-Sport team manager Richard Millener. As our flagship car for customers, we want to see the Fiesta Rally2 compete against market competitors in the WRC.

We believe it is possible to fight for the championship. I am happy that Adrien is still part of the team for the start of the 2023 season and I think this return to Rally2 will be an interesting challenge for him. He has had success in WRC2 in the past and we know Monte Carlo is a place where he can achieve results.«
